Better information leads to better city policy. Unfortunately, many of the world’s cities still lack basic information on their own transport systems, leading to decisions measured against anecdotes rather than data.
ITDP presents the all-new Atlas of Sustainable City Transport, a global data dashboard measuring indicators of all modes of sustainable transport in 1,000 urban areas and tens of thousands of jurisdictions worldwide. The Atlas is a powerful tool for planners and officials to develop meaningful goals for sustainable transport while measuring their own progress and that of peers.
This webinar will focus on how the Atlas can be used for decision- and policymaking and will highlight the Atlas’ key indicators, especially People Near Bikeways and People Near Transport, and their relevance to mobility planning. This debut webinar will be the first in a series of content from ITDP that will feature the Atlas’ dynamic capabilities and insights.

Ben, AICP, CFA, is a Principal Planner at the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT). He managed development of SDOT’s Climate Change Response Framework, which identifies existing and new strategies necessary to position Seattle as an international leader in climate action. Ben applies his experience in strategic planning, transportation policy and design, and sustainability metrics tracking to his current role. Prior to SDOT, Ben worked at consultancies in transportation and business strategy.
Alvaro is a technical expert at the Department of Mobility, Transportation and Telecommunications at the Metropolitan Regional Government of Santiago, where he has worked for the last ten years. He is a trained Geographer specializing in sustainable mobility and environment. In his current position, he has been part of the territorial planning team and has advanced management in the use of transport and territory data. He is currently working on the implementation of cycling plan for the Santiago Metropolitan Area..
In his current position, Didier is responsible for managing different infrastructure investment initiatives under the leadership of the Governor. With his training in industrial civil engineering and public infrastructure projects, he represents the Regional Government at the discussions with regional stakeholders around transport coordination, planning and operations.
Shekhar Singh is a civil servant who has a strong engineering background and passion for sustainable development. He’s a graduate of IIT Guwahati and earned his postgraduate degree in structural engineering from the University of California (Berkeley, US). Currently serving as the Municipal Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) since August 2022, he also takes on the roles of CEO at Pimpri Chinchwad Smart City Ltd. and Chairperson of Auto Cluster Development and Research Institute (ACDRI). His leadership has sparked transformative urban projects, notably the Harit Setu Master Plan for sustainable mobility.
Leonardo Veiga (he/his) is an economist graduated at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and holds a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning at Instituto de Planejamento Urbano e Regional – IPPUR (UFRJ). At the university he had the opportunity to study topics related to regional economics, economic development and urban mobility.
Before ITDP he worked as a researcher at a consulting company in the area of economic development (EDUTEC) and as Information Analyst at UN-Habitat Brazil. Recently he worked at the Fiscal Advisory Office of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro, producing data analysis and research on the socio-economic scenario of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
