ITDP is a nonprofit organization headquartered in New York City with offices in Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, and the United States. ITDP’s programs focus on public transport, non-motorized transport, travel demand management, parking, transport policy, and urban development.

Aline Leite

Public Transport Coordinator
Aline Leite (she/hers) joined ITDP in July 2024 as the Public Transport Coordinator. She holds a Master’s degree in Transport Engineering and a Postgraduate Certificate in urban engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), a Postgraduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from the University of Salzburg, Austria, and a Geographer from the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM).
A PhD candidate in Transport Engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Aline’s research is making significant strides. Her thesis, which aims to understand the perception of accessibility in an urban context, has been recognized by the prestigious Organization of American States (OAS). In 2023, Aline was also selected by the ELAP (Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program), an international scholarship program of the Government of Canada, where she completed a four-month study period at the University of Toronto (UofT).
Before joining ITDP, Aline was a key researcher in Urban Mobility at IDEC (Institute for Consumer Protection). She was one of the contributors to the SUM (Unified Mobility System) text and has extensive experience in projects to improve the public bus transport system (BRS – Bus Rapid Service and BRT – Bus Rapid Transit). Her expertise has been instrumental in planning transport operations for special events such as New Year’s Eve, the 2014 World Cup, Rock in Rio 2015 and 2017, and the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Born in Manaus, Amazonas (north of Brazil), Aline is passionate about exploring new places, cultures, and foods. In addition to being a pet lover, Aline is fascinated by collecting public transport cards.
