Danielle Hoppe

Active Mobility Manager

Danielle Hoppe (she/hers) holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from McGill University (Montreal, Canada) and a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Porto Alegre). She works at ITDP Brasil as Active Mobility Manager.

She was an ITDP consultant between 2012 and 2014, the year she became part of the organization’s permanent team. She coordinated initiatives and developed content related to the implementation of the National Urban Mobility Policy and transport demand management. Since 2017, her main role has been in active mobility. She  works to qualify and prioritize mobility policies that focus on pedestrians and cyclists, considering aspects such as traffic safety, urban design, universal accessibility, integration with public transport and new technologies, as well as governance and management arrangements so that active mobility becomes a viable and safe commuting option in Brazilian cities.

Danielle has been working in urban planning and sustainable mobility for over 15 years, with experiences in the public, private and the third sectors. Along her career, she  worked as an architect in the private sector, as a researcher at the Municipality of Porto Alegre and as urban analyst in technical cooperation projects related to solid waste management and sustainability of tourism development in Bolivia and Honduras. She was also the local coordinator of the international conference “Urban Age-Urban Transformations”, held in 2013 in Rio de Janeiro by LSE-Cities.
