Sarah Cassius

Global Program Manager
Sarah is a sustainable transport and urban development specialist with experience spanning research with a focus on accessibility and social equity within the sector, impact evaluation, and global project management. She currently serves as Global Program Manager at the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP), where she leads the Public Transport Strategic Initiative and supports organizational strategy across ITDP’s global offices. She returned to ITDP after completing an internship with the Global Research Team five years earlier. Before rejoining ITDP, Sarah was a Research Associate at the World Resources Institute’s Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, where she focused on sustainable public transport in the Global South and the social, political, and economic dynamics that shape mobility transitions.
Sarah holds a master’s degree in Geography and a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from the George Washington University. She has worked with organizations including the GW Center for Real Estate and Urban Analysis, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Environmental Crimes Division, and the American Wind Energy Association. A formative summer with a municipal government in Colombia’s Department of Environment and Urban Planning which deepened her commitment to the transport sector – and sparked her love for Medellín’s Metrocable.
