Metrobus Ever Closer in Buenos Aires

By Samuel Frommer, ITDP Argentina Progress is moving full steam ahead on the construction of Buenos Aires’s new bus rapid transit system, Metrobus. The 12 km (7.5 mi) corridor is expected to open this May,connecting two major train stations on opposite ends of the city, as well as two subway lines.

The Lope de Vega Station is the furthest along in what will be the country’s first BRT system.

The fully accessible, 21 station system is expected to cut travel time by 40%, providing a faster, smoother and more comfortable ride for the anticipated 100,000 daily users.  ITDP has been involved with the project from the beginning, acting as a technical expert, providing planning and design support.
