CEO Clayton Lane is stepping down after more than 2 years with the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy. ITDP Board President Heather Thompson of the consulting firm HT Strategy will serve as Interim CEO during this transition, with board Vice Chair Joseph Ryan of Securing America’s Future Energy stepping into the role of acting Board President.
Lane joined ITDP in 2015 following the resignation of longtime CEO Walter Hook. During his tenure, ITDP has strengthened both partnerships and program work, including opening an office in Kenya and launching the annual MOBILIZE summit. The organization has also broadened focus on issues such as inclusiveness in transit oriented development and shared mobility. Clayton has contributed significantly to these outcomes and will be missed. At the request of the board, he will remain engaged with ITDP as Special Advisor for Shared Mobility through July.
“On behalf of the board of directors, I want to thank Clayton for his leadership and service to ITDP,” Says Joseph Ryan. “He has been instrumental in strengthening organizational support and programs, which are delivering incredible outcomes all around the world. Thanks to his hard work, we will continue to grow in influence, securing more achievements and ever-better results. The board is committed to ensuring a smooth transition to the next chapter of ITDP’s development.”
