Bapusaheb Gaikwad
Executive Engineer, Traffic and Transportation Department, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation
With over 25 years of experience as an urban and regional planning professional, Bapusaheb is currently working as an Executive Engineer in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Traffic & Transportation Department. As a part of PCMC’s Traffic & Transportation Department, Bapusaheb is actively involved in the development of several sustainable transportation initiatives, like the BRT network, Metro corridor, and walking and cycling infrastructure through projects like the Urban Streetscapes Programme and Harit Setu Master Plan, among others. The infrastructure developed by PCMC has been creating waves at several National and International competitions. Recently, PCMC won the National Urban Mobility India Competition for the ‘Best NMT Infrastructure in India’ and also the International Bloomberg Initiative for Cycling Cities Award.
As an avid cyclist himself, Bapusaheb has also won individual awards in the ‘Freedom to Walk, Cycle and Run’ Competition organised at the National level to sensitise officials and decision-makers to the problems faced by NMT users in their respective cities.
Bapusaheb has completed his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Government Engineering College Aurangabad and master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from the renowned Indian Institute of Technology- Delhi.
