ITDP teams from around the world will be attending WUF12 Cairo this year to co-host and speak at a series of sessions focused on access, equity, active mobility, and beyond. Join us in-person or virtually!

Tuesday, November 5th

ACCESS: Accelerating Access to Low Carbon Urban Mobility Solutions through Digitalization (9:00 – 12:00 EEST, Multipurpose Room 16) — This session will delve into the transformative potential of digital technologies in revolutionizing transportation systems, with a focus on active mobility and public transport. ITDP speakers include:

This event explores how cities can enable more people to have safe, accessible, comfortable and enjoyable walking and cycling experiences. ITDP speakers include:

Universal Access and the Right to the City: Planning with People with Disabilities (17:00 – 18:30 EEST, Multipurpose Room 16) — With 15-25% of urban populations living with a form of disability, cities often fail to accommodate the diverse mobility needs of their residents. This session aims to shift this paradigm, focusing on how urban environments with their mobility options and services need to work together to enable full access to the city for all. Presentations will discuss the intersection of sustainable transport, climate action, and public health. ITDP speakers include:

Shared Wheels, Shared Spaces: Impact of Pilot Bikesharing and Shared-Streets Initiatives (11:00 to 12:30 EEST, Room E) Focusing on bike sharing and shared-streets initiatives, the event explores how these pilot programs are reshaping urban fabrics, enhancing accessibility, and – through insightful discussions, case studies, and expert insights – attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the tangible impacts of these initiatives. Accelerating Inclusive and Sustainable Urban Mobility: The Critical Role of Fiscal Support, Digitalization, and Formalization (9:30 EEST, German Pavilion, Live Stream Available) — This event explores policies to strengthen public transport, focusing on fiscal support policies, digitalization, and formalization. While money, tech, and the private sector are all key drivers, strong institutions and good governance form the bedrock for accelerating access. The session will showcase success stories from around the world and drawing upon insights from countries leading in these areas. ITDP speakers include:
