Women use public transport at a greater rate than men, yet they face many barriers that limit their ability to travel. Mobility is not gender neutral; women, girls and gender non-conforming communities have different transport needs and patterns, yet policies in most countries and cities remain unrelentingly gender-neutral and male-driven. As a result, access to buses, trains, informal transit, cycling, and even public space remains vastly unequal, with these challenges further exacerbated by the global pandemic.
Listen to our speakers from around the world as they discuss the state of gender and mobility both regionally and globally, and share insights on recent research and data from their own work.
