In this webinar, ITDP explores two zone-based approaches to reducing vehicles—zero emission areas and congestion pricing. Zero emission areas are a newly emerging urban planning tool that concentrates “pull” incentives, such as better public transit and people-first streets, to shift people out of cars. Congestion pricing uses a “push” incentive, mainly a peak-travel fee to reduce vehicles in key city areas at high-usage times. Both are zone-based approaches that can create significant impacts reducing vehicles, but are complicated to design, operate, and enforce, and require robust political will to implement.

Join us for the final webinar in our Taming Traffic series focused on reducing demand for vehicles by changing the incentives in certain zones. We will hear from ITDP presenters about the vision and multi-stakeholder process to establish zero emission areas in Los Angeles, and findings from a survey on willingness to pay for congestion pricing in Mumbai.
