ITDP’s Global Program is seeking a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Intern. The MEL program tracks organizational progress, evaluates project outcomes, and communicates results to funders, partners, and the public. The Intern will support these efforts through tasks such as maintaining high-quality data systems, analyzing project and program impacts, and supporting strategic plan monitoring across ITDP’s offices.
ITDP strives to integrate interns into our daily operations, with the expectation that the Intern will provide meaningful support to ongoing projects while gaining valuable experience and education in the field. We are looking for an intern who is available to work up to 32 hours per week during the Summer, and 20 hours per week during the Fall academic term. The internship will begin in June 2026 and run through December 2026. The internship may be extended depending on mutual interest and academic eligibility.
ITDP’s US-based team works in a hybrid environment, and the intern should either be available to work in our Washington, D.C. office or be based in the United States and work fully remote. The Intern will receive a weekly stipend of $640 for 32 hours worked, prorated for fewer hours. A laptop will be provided during the internship, if needed.

Responsibilities
- Support the MEL team in tracking progress against ITDP’s strategic objectives using internal and external data
- Ensure impact data is accurate, up-to-date, and consistently reported across regions
- Assist with data cleaning, analysis, and visualization for global monitoring tools and dashboards
- Identify and organize key data sources that inform ITDP’s strategic indicators
- Support assessment of ITDP’s impacts and summarize findings for internal and external communication
- Coordinate with regional teams to track projects, policies, and funding developments related to sustainable transport
- Follow up with regional offices to ensure timely and high-quality data reporting across MEL trackers
- Provide support to the M&E Working Group, including meeting coordination, documentation, and action tracking
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in the United States (CPT authorization required for international students)
- Ability to work up to 34 hours per week during the Summer, and 20 hours per week during the Fall semester (approximately June – December 2026)
- Ability to work at least 1 day/week in our Washington, D.C. office or to work fully remote in the United States
- Critical thinking, time management skills, initiative, and attention to detail. Drive to see projects to completion.
- Dedication to equity, inclusivity, and social justice.
- Experience with Excel or other spreadsheet software, including working with functions like VLOOKUP() or INDEX(MATCH()).
- Experience with Python, R, and/or GIS.
- Strong communication skills by email, video call, and direct message.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in cities, sustainable transportation, urban planning, climate mitigation, or related areas (tell us why in your cover letter!)
- Experience with monitoring and evaluations, impact assessments, organization-wide recordkeeping, or similar.
- Experience with OpenStreetMap Mapbox, or other spatial data visualization platforms
- Experience living or working outside of the US a plus
- Ability to work in ITDP’s Washington, DC office
Compensation
