Deep-Dive into BRT on ITDP’s Learning Hub
ITDP is excited to share the debut of our Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Resource Hub.
Have questions about our Resource Hub content? Contact us at Mobility@itdp.org
Following the success of ITDP’s previous courses on cycling cities and babies, toddlers, and caregivers, this BRT Resource Hub is a curated collection of resources to help stakeholders learn to plan, operate, and advocate for better BRT systems. The resources in this public, self-guided Hub is organized into four modules that consist of core material recommended for all and complementary content for those interested in exploring further.
A Roadmap for Cities in Four Modules
Building on ITDP’s year of the bus and the release of the 2024 Edition of the BRT Standard, this Hub draws from ITDP’s decades of experience promoting, supporting, and implementing BRT systems and policies worldwide. It aims to provide a roadmap for city officials, transport planners, urban planners, and civil society to help advance their BRT planning and development efforts as these systems continue their growth in many global cities.
With Basic and Technical levels of information, the resources are useful to decision-makers, advocates, and academics who want to explore global best practices and lessons learned through foundational and informative resource formats. In addition, transport planners and practitioners looking to implement new BRT systems can learn more technical information about designing and planning BRT. Participants can follow all of the provided resources inside the space or dive deeper into specific topics or themes.
Finally, Participants interested in testing their understanding of both Basic and Technical concepts can take a multiple-choice quiz at the course conclusion to receive a certificate that can be uploaded on professional platforms like LinkedIn for recognition.
The Hub’s collection includes guides, case studies, short explanatory videos, and webinar recordings that include best practices, stories, definitions, and technical information for different types of audiences. The resources are primarily in English, with other language options for key publications and videos. With the self-guided nature of the content, users can revisit and spend as much time as they need to explore and learn.
Materials are organized into four thematic modules that convey different levels of technical information, so users can navigate according to their specific needs and interests regarding BRT:
- Basic resources (Modules 1–3): Convey basic information about the importance of the BRT systems for the cities, their main characteristics and stages of planning, and the main tools for its use
- Technical resources (Module 4): Highlight technical information about how to develop, monitor, and evaluate BRT service planning and implementation
Register for Module 1 here.
Modules 2 through 4 will be made available in the upcoming weeks.
