This webinar looks at how some cities have been bringing a new gender perspective to mobility planning to influence how transport systems, spaces and cities function. After decades of work around the world, ITDP is now seeing how cities and transportation systems are being designed to be more responsive to many socio-cultural constraints that women face. These new approaches are contributing not only to more inclusive outcomes, but also to more inclusive planning processes that ensure these systems work well for the different groups in cities. We are beginning to see what a city would look like if it were designed for, and by, women.
Join us in celebrating International Women’s Day as we welcome speakers from ITDP Indonesia, ITDP Brazil, and ITDP Africa in a discussion on the various gender-related initiatives they have led over the years, and how they are changing the narrative of gender inclusion in urban spaces and transport.

Ana Nassar joined the ITDP Brazil staff in November 2014 as program director, responsible for project management and planning. She holds a master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Brasilia and a bachelor degree in International Relations from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo.
From 2012 to 2014, Ana worked as the environmental manager for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, responsible for the implementation of the environmental projects for the competition. She has previously worked for the British Embassy in Brazil, at the Brazilian Ministry of Strategic Affairs and at the Museum of the Person.
Ana has been managing sustainable development projects for more than 15 years, dealing with several topics, including climate change, waste management, urban mobility, sustainable procurement, and community development.
Lorena Freitas (she/hers) joined ITDP in 2020 as a Travel Demand Management Coordinator. She has worked as a geographer and Geosciences Coordinator at the CEPERJ Foundation and was a member of the Centre of Transport and Tourism Strategic Planning – Planett / UFRJ, where she contributed to projects focused on active and sustainable mobility. In academia, Lorena has participated in research projects with the Ibero-American Network for the Study of Travel Generating Poles.
Lorena has a bachelor’s degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and a master’s degree in Transport Engineering also from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Deliani Siregar, who goes by Anggi, is an urban planner with a bachelors degree in Engineering and Urban and Regional Planning from Gadjah Mada University. She is an urban enthusiast who has a strong passion for mobility and transportation affairs. Anggi is responsible for the project coordination and field supervision of Jakarta’s non-motorized transportation (NMT) vision and design implementation until 2022. In the past, Anggi has contributed to many different projects and built her expertise by providing TOD, NMT, and BRT plans and assessments for local sustainable mobility planners, reducing transport emissions in Indonesian cities, contributing to BRT cost estimation planning for the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and providing alternative designs to support great walking and cycling environments throughout Jakarta.
In her spare time, Anggi loves to write. She is an author and has already published two books for kids and collaborated on several other fiction books. She is also a radio announcer and program director. Anggi joined the ITDP Indonesia staff in 2015.
Before joining ITDP, Carolyne worked as an e-commerce consultant in the hospitality industry in Africa. She has also worked as the project lead for technology startups in the region. Carolyne is currently working with ITDP on diverse projects including a data dashboard for Africa, dynamic websites and an engaging communication strategy. Carolyne holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems from the University of Nairobi.
