Better Streets. Better Cities. Better Lives.
Since our founding in 1985, ITDP has grown from a small band of cycling activists to a leading organization in the fight to curb greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and transform our cities to provide a better quality of life for all. We are focused on promoting well-funded, well-managed, and electrified public transport systems that are supported by robust walking, cycling, and transit-oriented development policies and infrastructure. Our people-centered projects and work aim to ensure cities can provide more equitable access to economic opportunities and services through safe, sustainable, and affordable mobility.
A Global Organization at the Forefront of Transport Innovation
ITDP is a global organization at the forefront of innovation, using technical expertise, direct advocacy, and policy guidance to mitigate the impacts of climate change, improve air quality, and support prosperous, sustainable, and equitable cities. We have worked with over 100 cities in more than 40 nations to design and implement transport and urban development systems and policy solutions that make cities more viable, fair, and livable.
Today, ITDP works in all types of cities on five continents, with offices in China, Brazil, India, Indonesia, East Africa, Mexico and the United States. Our teams include architects, urban planners, transport experts, activists, data scientists, policy specialists, and more – all working directly with decisionmakers, institutions, and governments to implement on-the-ground change. Our extensive resources include technical reports, research briefs, guides, standards, white papers, visual multimedia, and beyond. Since 1985, ITDP has provided support for over 850 sustainable transport projects and policies in more than 120 cities worldwide.
