Bogotá, Colombia is a pioneer in the development of sustainable and affordable mass transit and bicycle facilities. It’s TransMilenio bus rapid transit (BRT) and is now a model for cities all over the world. And the city has built over 300 km of protected bikeways since 1998.
Streetfilms takes a look at those bikeways and interviews former mayor of Bogotá, Enrique Peñalosa, (who now serves as President of the Board of Directors of ITDP), to learn more about how and why the city decided to build them.
